All our hair grows for a certain amount of time and then falls out. Hair follicles on your head hold on to the hair longer, so it has a chance to grow as long as about three feet before it reaches its natural length and then falls out. Very few people can grow their head hair longer than three feet. The hairs on your legs etc are naturally shorter. When they reach their natural length, the wait a while, then fall out leaving the follicle ready to grow a new hair.
