How much can one MB (mega byte) hold in pictures, meaning if I had a 16 MB storage system, how many still digital pictures can I take?

The answer depends on the number of pixels the camera has, the resolution you decide to store the picture at, and the amount of compression you choose for when saving the image. The camera's handbook and/or the manufacturer's website should give you the answer.

My digital camera has a 16 MB memory card and can store 112 photos. These are 640 dots by 480 dots in size. If I were to take pictures with more dots, the memory would hold less pictures.
