I have been reading articles about teleportation, and in them, they state the fact that scanning an object for information will harm/destroy it. Can anyone explain to me why this happens in layman's terms?

You can look at an object and see where it is wihout destroying the object. But if you want to teleport somebody, you need to get record the location of every single atom in their body. The only way to look at an atom is to bounce a light particle (photon) off it. The more accurately you want to know the position, the more energy you need to put into the photon. This will blast the atom out of its location, so that the atom is no longer where it was. So the object being examined will be destroyed.

For Arizonians: I was reading yesterday that the 13 stripes on the state flag represent the original 13 colonies. But I remember being taught, that the 13 stripes represnt the 13 counties of Arizona. I'm not doubting that the website I got this information from is wrong, but I was just wondering if anyone else had ever heard the 13 counties theory before?
