Yay!! If you haven't heard of him - he was in Blues Brothers! Best known from bandleading before the war - and inventing Minnie the Moocher. Forgot the lyrics one night and started singing Hi-de-hi, hi-de ho etc. It caught on. Jul 16 03, 4:49 PM

They may use the phrase now - he started it. Quite a few of his lyrics are drug related - Kicking the Gong Around being a phrase used more than once. Possibly unusual for the period, but not unique.
