During spring training the next season (1915) Ruth secured a spot as a Boston starter. Ruth won 18 games and lost 8 and helped himself with the bat, hitting .315 and slugging his first four major league home runs.

However, his first Major League home run record was established during the 1919 season when he connected a then unbelievable twenty-nine times with the Boston Red Sox.
