The combination of Star Trek and its loyal fans is much more than the sum of its parts, says the official Internet site.
"Together, they represent a distinctive element in popular culture. In addition to being terrific entertainment, Star Trek may attribute its longevity and popularity to its optimistic vision of a future in which humankind not only prospers, but has also fostered a world of peace and equality for all - certainly a desirable and uplifting outlook."
After all, the space team's motto is: "To explore strange new worlds, to seek out new life and new civilizations, to boldly go where no man has gone before."
Now, the series, set in the 24th century and beyond, has its own encyclopedia on four disks and a single disk that shows 1,600 separate gadgets and displays on the five versions of the spaceship: the original USS Enterprise NCC-1701, the USS Enterprise NCC-1701-D, the USS Enterprise 1701-E, the USS Defiant NX74205 and the US Voyager NCC-74656.
