There is a rumour that a mountaineer called Crowley dragged a cow up the Matterhorn, supposed to be the hardest climb in Europe. He did this after a famous English Alpinist had won glory by taking his wife to the summit, the first woman to climb it. The climber inscribed his deed in the Record Book of the Alpine Club: 'Took my wife to the summit of the Matterhorn', and the date." Yhe very next entry in the Record Book was that of Aleister Crowley who wrote, "Took my cow to the summit." There is another more toned-down version of this story. In this account Crowley simply took a female dog to the top of the Matterhorn and "then proclaimed the first ascent by a BITCH" which sounds much more plausible than a cow being dragged to the top of a mountain.

Surely the evil Aleister Crowley would have written "Second man to take a cow to the summit"! Hasn't a piano ever been taken up a mountain?
