That is an unanswerable question, as apparently an alchemist is bound by an oath of secrecy, and to reveal anything to the uninitiated would result in damnation!

The main reason for alchemists not revealing methods was that they were afraid that someone would try and do it and find it didn't work, thus drying up a source of income while they were 'perfecting the method' for their patron.

Gold is elemental. The only way to create it "artificially" would be to go mucking about with atoms, and I don't know that they've even bothered to give it a go.
We can synthetically create many minerals, as long as we have the neccessary elements and circumstances available. But with the exception of some very well-funded scientists with very expensive machines and a whole lot of luck, we can't create elements.
