The Australian Open was held twice in 1977
In January - Roscoe Tanner won the title
In December Vitus Gerulaitus won the title.
I'm fascinated as to why? (Searching!)

They decided to move the fixture from the traditional January date to December and then in 1987 moved back to January so there is no 1986 Champion. (Thanks Mochyn, I can use that!)
