According to a March 2003 release on the website
of the shadow minister for children and youth they
are still waiting! Their estimate is that the
average weekly wage for a female worker in Australia is 67% of male earnings or $271 less per
week. That's a lot of money!
The principle of equal pay for work of equal value
was introduced in 1969. The main argument against
its implementation seems to be that women are employed under different awards.
