I agree Linus, I am sure there are several answers to this question. I found the following. However, other interventions increase both IQ scores and the underlying abilities. In 1961, the Milwaukee Project was launched to see if changing a child's family life could counteract the negative effects of cultural and socioeconomic deprivation. While pregnant, these mothers were split into two groups. The experimental group was sent to school, given job training and placed into jobs. They were also given training in childcare, home economics and personal relationships. The other group, a control, was given no special education or training. I like BrainyBlonde's answer for the 126 I.Q. However, the quote about Mensa is incorrect, which should be obviously wrong. If the average I.Q. of a population is general is 100 (which is the definition of the 100 mark) and Mensans are in the top 2%, then the statement cannot be right. Actually, she quoted correctly, but that was from the section providing information as to the meaning of I.Q. The sentence "The average IQ is 100 but this value depends upon the measurement scale used." refers to "average I.Q. of a population" (my quote) not the "average I.Q. of Mensa members." (my quote). The I.Q.s required to join Mensa differ by the specific I.Q. test. Examples are: · Cattell B - 148 · Culture Fair - 132 · Ravens Advanced Matrices - 135 · Ravens Standard Matrices - 131 · Wechsler Scales - 132 Thus, if the minimum I.Q. to get into Mensa is 131, the average Mensan's I.Q. must be higher than that.
