I would go along with Tom's answer. McGonagall's account of the collapse of the Tay Bridge really is a must-read.
According to Douglas Adams, Vogon poetry was among the worst in the Universe, but the very worst ever was written by Paula Nancy Millstone Jennings.

Whoever writes the obituary 'poetry' in the Liverpool Echo! The most widely read bad poet is William MacGonnagall - well worth looking up.
