Do more foreign countries use the metric system or the standard system? If the United States is alone, why do they neglect to go predominantly metric like everyone else?

Here in the UK we are supposedly a metric unit user, however vast numbers of people still use the Imperial measurements because that was what they learnt when they were growing up. Many Engineering Companies still use both Metric and Imperial units as the cost of total conversion would be prohibitive. Sep 01 03, 1:01 PM
