Hello, Mother Goose! I looked at several websites
with info about Agatha, but could not find a
definitive answer to your question. www.ananova.com/yournews/story lists several
poisons that featured in Christie's books.
She worked in a pharmacy during WW1, where she acquired her knowledge of poisons. Best Wishes.

Arsenic was first used by Greek and Chinese healers more than 2,000 years ago to treat everything from syphilis to cancer, but was also the favourite poison of the Savellis, the Borgias and Agatha Christie. http://www.nature.com/cgi-taf/DynaPage.taf?file=/nrc/journal/v2/n9/full/nrc887_r.html

Arsenic was the easiest poison to obtain until reasonably recently as you just soaked fly papers which were impregnated - cf. Maybrick murder. My "favourite" murder is the thallium murders where the bloke kept saying to the police who were at a loss at to how the people had died "Have they thought of Thallium?"!!
