What significant archeological discovery has recently been made on the island of Lewis in the Outer Hebrides?

Question #38837. Asked by shady shaker. (Sep 16 03 7:54 AM)

    Stew54

Two mummies were discovered in the Hebrides recently, but I don't know on which island. Could this be it?

There was a programme about them on TV which I missed but someone told me it was interesting. The bodies must have been kept above ground and sheltered for many years to dry out, Hebridean ground conditions being somewhat damper than Egypt, or indeed nearly anywhere else!

I think they have found a stone circle believed to be older than Stonehenge.

Well, what do you know. Good spot Rick. I hadn't heard of that, but here is a news report.

Yay!!! to both of you. Good pick-up and thanks
for the website, Stew. I found the story about
this discovery in my local paper. When I made
a note about it, I wrote down the words
"Na Dromannan", but don't remember why!!!
Think I'd better try some of that sage!!
