Several sites indicate that there were "more than thirty" (the story of probably the most famous being told in "The Day of the Jackal") although none seems able to be more precise.

There were thirty serious assassination attempts on De Gaulle's life between 1958 and 1965 or so, for which he wins the Gonzo Award for Most Assassination Attempts.

Between 1958 and the mid-1960s, there were some 30 serious assassination attempts upon the life of Charles de Gaulle, in addition to any number of planned attempts which didn't advance much beyond the planning stage. In at least one of the attempts, the CIA may have been a co-conspirator against the French president.

It is much easier watching your investments grow, then to have to worry about assassination attempts. De Gaulle with 32, and Bill Clinton has already clocked up 16.
