In my opinion cable has better "reception" since satellite is susceptible to weather conditions, is a line of sight technology and like all radio signals is subject to interference from other external radio sources.
A cable signal may lose "strength" from source due to cable resistance, impedance, capacitance and other propagation problems, but this tends to be very constant with little change or fluctuation and with sufficient amplifiers and repeaters etc, the received signal at the decoder is almost always above the required minimum.
