    The first persons to observe Neptune were Johann Gottfried Galle and his assistant Heinrich Louis D'Arrest. Adams and Le Verrier had already calculated that it was there, but they hadn't actually seen it.

    It was discovered on September 23, 1986 and was discovered by John Crouch Adams and co-discovered by Urbain Le Verrier.
