McG, do you mean the Native American actor Chief
Iron Eyes Cody, who featured in an anti-pollution
advertising campaign for Keep America Beautiful.
The slogan used in the ad was: "People start
pollution; people can stop it."
Chief Iron Eyes Cody became better known as "The
Crying Indian" because of the facial expression he
assumed for the ad.
