    Premiere New York developer Macklowe Properties bobbed to the top of a slew of suitors - and yesterday signed a contract to buy the General Motors building for a hefty $1.4 billion.
    The price dwarfs the roughly $820 million Donald J. Trump and former high-flying insurance company Conseco paid for the tower just five years ago.
