In the title track of the 1952 musical, Gene Kelly was famously dancin' and singin' in the rain, in a scene recorded while Gene was suffering from a 103 deg F fever. The "rain" had milk added to make it show up better. This memorable scene has been recreated by many from Morecame and Wise to Paddington Bear. It is sometimes erroneously stated that Debbie Reynolds' singing voice in the movie was dubbed by Jean Hagen in a reversal of their characters in the movie. In fact her voice was dubbed by Betty Noyes. Debbie did do her own dancing with lessons from Fred Astaire after unkind comments led her to tears. Oct 27 03, 8:43 PM
