How many actors and actresses have played the same role in three or more movies twice? e.g. Harrison Ford played Indiana Jones in three films, and Han Solo in three films. Others include Sylvester Stallone (Rocky, Rambo) and Talia Shire (Rocky, the Godfather.)

Christopher Lee played Sherlock Holmes once in 1962 (in German, no less), once in 1991 and again in 1992. Lee has also played Death at least three times. With the upcoming release of "The Return of the King" he will have played Saruman the White three times. And, of course, he's been Count Dracula nine times to date. The great Peter Cushing has player Dr. Van Helsing six times and Baron Frankenstein seven times. He's also been Sherlock Holmes three times. Would Mickey Rooney as Andy Hardy and Mickey McGuire qualify? I'm not sure if Mickey McGuire was a character or a stage name. Oct 30 03, 8:14 PM

Try almost all the main characters in the first three (Episodes 4-6) Star Wars movies. Carrie Fisher as Leia, Mark Hamill as Luke, Anthony Daniels as C3PO, Alec Guinness as Obi-wan Kenobi, Kenny Baker as R2-D2, Peter Mayhew as Chewbacca (And he's in the upcoming Episode III as Chewy, as well), James Earl Jones played the voice of Darth Vader in all three, and David Prowse played his body in all three. And then, of course, there are most of the main cast members of the original six Star Trek movies, and most of the cast members from Star Trek the Next Generation in the next several Star Trek movies. Michael J Fox, of course, played the same character in Back to the Future as well. And I don't know if you want to count Arnold Schwarzenegger, who played the terminator in three movies, though technically, different terminators. Oh, and the great Boris Karloff a Mr. James Lee Wong in at least 5 movies, and played "The Monster" or in three Frankenstein movies, plus, he is credited as two different Baron Frankenstein's in two other movies. Fox has been in 3 BTTF movies, but nothing else, Christopher Lloyd also. You can take anyone from the Godfather trilogy, Star wars, Rocky, Rambo etc., but most of those haven't done it twice. Oh, and if you consider playing the voice of a character in three movies, then James Earl Jones does count, because he was Darth Vader's voice in three movies, and was also Admiral James Greer in "The Hunt for Red October", "Patriot Games", and "Clear and Present Danger". Also, Shirley Temple played Mary Lou Rogers in three movies, and "Shirley" about 5 times. No last names given on the "Shirley" characters, but it doesn't appear she was playing herself.
