The White Tower is the original 'Tower' of London. Begun in 1076 and now home to displays from the Royal Armouries.
On the second floor of the White Tower is the Chapel of St John completed in 1080 making it the oldest intact church building in London.

Most sites claimed the Tower was the oldest but there were two other claims.
One was for the Chapel of the Pyx and the adjoining hall at Westminster Abbey, dating back to Edward the Confessor.
The other was a tithe barn on the High Street in Harmondsworth, also claimed home of the first Cox's apple tree, listed in the Doomsday Book.
If this is correct then both buildings date back to 1066 or earlier.
