Question #40899 has led me to this. If Edward V was king even though he was never crowned and done in by his uncle Richard III (or whoever, for the Riccardians) why isn't Arthur of Brittany, son of Richard I's elder brother Geoffrey, and done in by his uncle John (or whoever, again) never listed as a king?

When Richard I went on Crusade he nominated Arthur as heir to the English throne even though Arthur was only four. Richard did to prevent John claiming the English throne if anything happened to Richard while away on Crusade. However, on his death bed, Richard nominated his brother John as his heir rather than Arthur of Brittany. I assume this is why he is never accepted as King Arthur.
