    Nevado Ojos del Salado in Chile. It is 6,887 meters above sea level. The highest volcano with historic eruptions is Llullaillaco, Chile, at 6,739 meters above sea level. Both volcanoes are located in the northern Chilean Andes.

    Aconcagua in Argentina is an extinct volcano. At 6960 meters, the highest point in the New World.

    Ojos del Salado is correct, the Aconcagua is no volcano.
