YAY!! vadeking. You're new aren't you? Welcome to the madcap world of Ask.Funtrivia. I will send you a coded message containing the names of all the contributors to this site you should view with the utmost suspicion. It will take two days for you to read.

The Ark Royal saw active service from Nov-1938 Nov-1941.
A single g7e torpedo struck the ship on the starboard side on 13 Nov 1941 from the German submarine U81 in the Western Mediterranean, 25nm ESE of Gibraltar and foundered the following day.
The explosion opened a hole 130 feet long by 30 feet deep, the size being increased by the time taken to bring the ship to a halt, resulting in additional hull plating being peeled off.
All crew were off the ship 12 hours 19 minutes after the hit and it sank 1 hours and 49 minutes later (over 14 hours after the torpedo struck)
There was much criticism later that it had not been "rescued" since Gibralter was only 25 miles away and could have been reached by several vessels easily within the time frame.

Looks like we might want to keep an eye on SEQUOANOIR! There probably is no rule against this, but his suspiciously DETAILED answer was plagerized almost word for word from this page: http://www.warships1.com/BRcv03_ArkRoyal_sink.htm

Yes, typographical error. Apologies for mis-typing your sn. I AM new here, and perhaps this is acceptable and common behavior on funtriva. If so, I apologise for the finger-pointing.

Now personally, I feel that if one is going to copy and paste information from another website, credit should be given to the author through a posted link. It seems improper to me to use such methods otherwise; it creates the illusion that you are smarter than you actually are. Posting CREDITED information from a website, on the otherhand, I think is rather commendable. You have shown that you take the effort to find the answers for people, but are not ashamed that you did not know the information yourself initially.

However, as pointed out, I AM a newbie and not yet familiar with all of the acceptable practices of FunTrivia members. I am neither owner nor moderator of this site. I realize that even though plagarism can get one kicked out of most schools and is generally frowned upon, many allowances are made on the internet in various areas.

If I have grossly overstepped my bounds by pointing this out, I apologize and will ignore such things in the future.
