Louis Armstrong is certainly the name of one of the courts; I'm still a little unsure whether or not it is center court. The other court is named for Arthur Ashe, a name that goes much more naturally with a tennis court. The Arthur Ashe court is much newer.
The link with Armstrong seems to be that he lived from 1943 to his death in 1971 in a house in Queens, very near the stadium in Flushing.
