Good grief joey, there is one in Egypt. It's on Giza Pyramids Road. Mmm, nice name! Anyway Sainsbury's say they hope to have outlets all over Egypt soon.

UK food retailer Sainsburys opened a store in Egypt in January 2000. The supermarket on Giza's Pyramids Road is the first to be opened by a global retailer in Egypt. Sainsburys is said to be 'delighted' with the public's response.
The Pyramids Road store is processing over twice as many customers as an equivalent store in UK. It is being visited by around 7,500 customers each day, whereas the average number of customers in a UK store is only 3,000. And even though the store is offering discounts as big as 15%, it is recording a higher revenue than comparable UK stores. It has however become a victim of its own success and is too crowded. Sainsburys are trying to relieve the pressure on the store by converting 36 smaller existing supermarkets in different areas in Cairo into satellites of Sainsburys' main store. A 'freeway' store, stocking a full range of food but no family products, was opened in Heliopolis in April 2000. Meanwhile, the ABC supermarket in the wealthy Cairo island of Zamalek has been converted into a second Sainsburys supermarket, containing a large family section with Early Learning Centre toys, children's products and Sainsburys' Homebase products.
