I believe it was "Private Secretary."

    IMDB disagrees.
Ann Sothern was in Private Secretary but it does not list Bob in the cast.
Additionally the search for where they may have worked together finds absolutely nothing.
However this is not saying that they have never done so but not as regular cast members.
It is possible one or the other made a "guest" appearance in a show at the same time as the other was appearing.

There was a show called 'My Mother the Car'which starred Jerry van Dyke and featured the voice of Ann Southern.

There was also a Bob Cummings Show where he had a car that turned into a plane.

There's a message board link here Kergan that might be helpful.

You are absolutely right Sec. My error, as I was going from memory (egad!). To add a little more information --

I find the following information in “The TV Encyclopedia: The Most Comprehensive Guide to Everybody Who’s Anybody in Television,” by David Inman, “Total Television: A Comprehensive Guide to Programming From 1948 To The Present” by Alex McNeil, and “The Complete Directory to Prime Time TV Stars 1946 to Present” by Tim Brooks:

Robert Cummings: The Bob Cummings Show 1955-1959 , Love That Bob.
“Shortly after the demise of Love That Bob, Bob Cummings returned in another situation comedy strikingly similar to the earlier one. This time Bob played Bob Carson. Bob’s sidekick, Lionel, and Roberts Shore played “Hank” Geogerty, the daughter of the hotel owner.”
“Love that Bob popular half-hour sitcom starring Bob as Bob Collins. With Ann B. Davis as his gal Friday, Schultzy; Rosemary DeCamp as Margaret MacDonald, his widowed sister…….”

    Neither mentions Ann B. Sothern.

Ann Sothern: Private Secretary 1953-1957. Ann as brassy Susie MacNamara. Don Porter her boss was theatrical agent Peter Sands. No mention of a character played by Robert Cummings. On CBS Private Secretary alternated biweekly with The Jack Benny program; during the summers of 1953 and 1954 NBC carried reruns of Private Secretary a a replacement for Your Hit Parade. The series was syndicated under the title Susie.

The Ann Sothern Show 1958-1961. Sothern played Kathleen (Katy) O’Connor, assistant manager of the Bartley House, a New York hotel. The original cast included Ernest Trues, Ann Tyrell, Jack Mullaney……. In March 1959 all the cast members except for Tyrell were jettisoned and virtually the entire cast from the old Private Secretary series was brought in.

Ann B. Davis: The Bob Cummings Show 1955-1959. Also The John Forsythe Show, and too, The Brady Bunch, The Brady Bunch Hour, and The Brady Brides.

Ann won an emmy for her work on The Bob Cummings Show as Best Supporting Actress.

So, bottom line is, if it has not been mentioned yet, is that Ann Sothern and Robert Cummings never were in a show together if these books and the internet hold water (so to speak!).

Hope I haven’t been tooooooo long in this detailed explanation. By the way, Ann Sothern did appear in several episodes of The Lucy Show.
