Carotene.
Natural Beta carotene is a carotenoid pigment produced by bacteria, micro-algae and higher plants.
In animals, it is split by enzymes to form Vitamin A.

Carotene is what makes carrots orange. It is also what makes pink flamingos pink... and it gives butter and chicken-egg yolk their yellow hue.
