When were electric Christmas tree lights first used?

Question #41339. Asked by salty shaker. (Nov 20 03 12:10 PM)

    TabbyTom

The first Christmas tree lit with electric light bulbs was installed at his home in New York City by Edward H. Johnson, an associate of Thomas Edison, in December 1882.

The first commercially produced Christmas tree lamps were manufactured in nine-socket string sets by the Edison General Electric Company of Harrison, NJ, and advertised for sale in the December 1901 issue of the “Ladies’ Home Journal. Each socket took a miniature 2-candlepower carbon-filament lamp operating on 32 volts.
