I vaguely recall that Romulus, who killed his brother accordng to the legend, was the first of a line of kings culminating in Tarquinius Superbus (Tarquin the Proud). Then the people of Latium, what these newly arrived "Latin" people called their Tiber settlement, became a republic in about the 6th century BC.

Most sites agree with it being Romulus, also known as "Quirinus" after his "death" - he ascended into heaven and was regarded as the first king of Rome. You then got the following:
Numa Pompilius, 2nd king of Rome
Tullus Hostilius, 3rd king
Ancus Martius, 4th king
Tarquinius Priscus, 5th king (Etruscan)
Servius Tullius, 6th king
Tarquinius Superbus, 7th king (Etruscan)
