    What was the Land of Beer created by Plautus?

    		TITUS MACCIUS PLAUTUS (c. 254-184 B.C.)

    "PLAUTUS," the single name by which modern writers refer to this writer of Roman comedy, was merely a nickname which in exact Umbrian dialect meant "flatfoot."

    (I thought that was funny.) I've found no reference to a "Land of Beer." Apparently, Plautus' work was rather coarse and vulgar, appealing to the common, uneducated class.

    		He appeals to me and I am not vulgar - very!Plautus wrote a very funny play called the Pot of Gold on which Moliere based - almost word for word - the Miser. The nickname Plautus would have been the family name like Caesar which means hairy. I couldn't find this land of beer thing either though.
