What is the meaning of the expression 'Abraham's Bosom?'

    Question #42140. Asked by SPLENDOUR.

    mibmob

It's a concept of paradise in Judaic theology. It is mentioned in the parable of Dives and Lazarus when Lazarus dies and goes to Abraham's bosom and Dives dies and is with the devil!

Just out of interest, mibby, where did you get the name 'Dives'? In the Bible, this person is referred to only as "a rich man".

Dives means rich man - in some translations that is actually what he is called. Lazarus means a leper. There is a lovely folk song from your part of the world which Vaughan Williams set five variations to called Dives and Lazarus.

Don't think much of your options, splendour!

From mibmob's description, I'd say peaceful death has to be the answer.

I'd go with "peaceful death" although I don't see a great deal of difference in that and "eternal peace."
