Melville Louis Kossuth Dewey was born on December 10, 1851. He invented the Dewey decimal classification, presumably because he was frustrated by the difficulty of finding books in libraries where there was no obvious classification system.

Well done Tabby Tom!
I heard about this remarkable man on the radio this morning, and thanks to his classification system we can go to any library in the world and more or less straight to the book we need.
