    Where are the largest tide fluctuations?

    The large tidal fluctuations in Canada's Bay of Fundy are not due to a stronger tidal force in this area, but instead to a funneling effect when water from the two sections of the bay merge together. The difference is so great that the water depth between low and high tides can vary as much as 18 meters or 60 feet. The dramatic difference means the boat sailing 60 feet above the bay floor may hit bottom just six hours later...
