    The explosive used in Christmas crackers, silver fulminate, is so dangerous that anyone making a few crystals is liable to end up with a face full of shrapnel according to certain websites. So how do they make enough fulminate to mass manufacture the crackers?

    		They make a fulminate coated sand, which isn't ready to react until after all the handling. Then the kids can use them as trick noise makers.
