    Why do we put up Christmas trees when it is Christmas?

    It was a German tradition which Victoria introduced in Britain - perhaps Germans introduced it into America. Almost certainly pagan in origin.

    You're not wrong, mibby, except (according to the following link) it was Prince Albert, not his missus, who introduced the Christmas tree:
