While looking through the newest quizzes, I found a reference to someone who apparently is or was a 'tight end.' Can I please have a (clean) explanation (probably from the USA as it seems to involve the NFL)?

    Question #42286. Asked by Baloo55th.

The tight end is one of the more versatile roles on an American football team. A tight end may be called upon to block as an offensive lineman for a passing play, block for and lead a running play or run a pass pattern as a wide receiver.

A player on the offensive side of the ball in American football. The tight end is generally bigger and taller than the "wide receivers." The tight end is part of the "offensive line" and often is used as a blocker when not going out for passes.
