It theorized that the earth was the center of the universe.

The Ptolemaic system was a system of imaginary circles, with the Earth at the centre, that allowed the positions of the planets to be predicted more accurately than the Copernican System which replaced it, which put the Sun at the centre and the planets travelling in circular orbits around it.
