Does your eye still carry an image of the last thing seen before death?

Images are the way the brain interprets light bouncing off the retina. (Specifically the cones and rods.) If the brain stops functioning there is no image. And as far as the retina is concerned, I don't think the cones and rods rearrange themselves to form every image before sending the info on. So, you wouldn't be able to tell from the retina the last thing a dead person saw.

The eyes tramsmit to the brain, so the brain may carry a copy of the image. Problem is - no-one's managed to find any way of reading the data from a dead brain yet. Probably someone somewhere is trying. They'll research anything given a source of finance.
