    Which Italian physicist influenced Newton to change his belief in the wave-nature of light?

    		Francesco Grimaldi (1618-1661) discovered that light travels as a wave. However, the book he wrote to describe his findings was published posthumously. However, Newton was of the opinion that light travelled as a stream of particles. Grimaldi,therefore had not influenced Newton to change his mind. Perhaps you were thinking of another Italian physicist, but I can find no reference to him.
