    Which tree features most frequently in London street names?

    		If you include parts of a name like Oakfield, it is close between oak, elm and beech. If it's the name alone, then cedar/s has more. I don't think I've missed any but it's possible.

    Looking at an almost 40-year-old map of London today, I saw that there was once a short thoroughfare called "Pickle Herring Street," sort of parallel to Tooley Street. It seems to have been done away with, abolished, destroyed. Can any U.K. resident tell me about this street, the origin of its name, and why it has disappeared? Online sites are not helping.
