Why do we tend to feel sleepy after a big meal?

Question #42696. Asked by gmackematix. (Dec 24 03 10:30 PM)

Because digestion releases seratonin in the brain which has that effect. Also seems more powerful in cats, wild and domestic, if you watch them after a large meal. Nature must have its reasons for it and cats don't have to resist their natural urges as we usually do.
