Actually, your fossil fuel group is 2nd on the list for "the greatest producer of energy for humanity today".
No.1 is the Sun which bathes the Earth with about 175 billion megawatts EVERY SECOND !
In fact the Earth receives more energy from the Sun in just one hour than the world uses in a whole year.

Good show, sequoianoir (I was afraid no one would answer my question)! You are correct, it is estimated that each year the Earth recieves ten times more energy from the sun than the entire Earth's supply of fossil fuel.
However, in your list one energy source was missed - Biofuels (wood, landfill gases, agricultural waste) which would appear between Nuclear and Geo-thermal...
