    Why is the name of one of Australia's political parties spelled "Labor" where under normal circumstances Australians use "British" spellings such as colour and favourite?

    		Wonder no longer, Norry. Uncle Shady has roused himself from his alcoholic stupor long enough to tell you that in its early days the Australian Labor Party was known by several different names. At the Party's 1908 Federal conference, the name "Australian Labour Party" was adopted. However, the Party continued to be referred to as both the "Labour" Party and the "Labor Party".
    The latter term was adopted in 1912, largely due to the influence of the American Labor movement.
