I'm thinking Red Barber, perennial announcer for Brooklyn, when that title belonged to the Dodgers and was later usurped for use by Dallas.

Why do you say formerly? I would say the answer is Tex Schramm.

It's not really possible to consider a franchise "America's Team", or "God's Team" (a term which I doubt is ever even uttered outside of Dallas), when that franchise has had losing seasons from 1998 untill 2002! I don't care how pretty their cheerleaders are.
Anyway, I'm sorry robboy the term did not come from the L.A. (oh sorry) Brooklyn Dodgers.
Bob Ryan, the vice president for programing development at NFL films, coined the term 25 years ago.
