    The World Professional Darts Championships, first played in 1978, have been staged at 'the home of world darts' since 1986, but 2004 will be the first year that they will be known as THE LAKESIDE WORLD PROFESSIONAL DARTS CHAMPIONSHIPS.
    Players representing NINE countries will be competing for the most prestigious title in world darts, plus an available prize fund of £263,000.

    Organised and staged by The British Darts Organisation, The Lakeside World Professional Darts Championships have a total available prize fund of £263,000. The 2004 Men's Champion will receive a cheque for £50,000, and for the first time ever the special achievement prize of £52,000 for a televised 9-dart 501 is available in both the Men's and Women's World Championships.
