Does the minimum age at which an unaccompanied person may legally drink alcohol in a bar vary between US states?

    Question #42989. Asked by Linus_337.

All states are now uniform at 21 yrs. Check with madd.org

Technically, it does not vary between states, because as robboy stated, the legal drinking age in all states is 21. However, it is up to the state to make this rule, and a number of states, mine included (grumble) are considering raising the legal age to 22 or 23, above the average age of graduation for college students.

I don't exactly understand the "unaccompanied person may legally drink" bit, though, because I don't think there are rules about whether people under a certain age must be accompanied in order to drink.
