What was the first song to hit the Number 1 spot in the United States twice in one year?

Not much luck, this is the closest I could find:-

"I Believe" by Frankie Lane was number 1 on 3 separate occasions on the UK charts in 1953.

However, it never reached number one in the USA; it peaked at #2 on the Billboard charts

The closest thing I could find is this:

Chubby Checker's "The Twist" was a re-recording of a song originally released in 1958. While the original never hit the charts, Checker's version zoomed to the top, hitting number one twice -- in 1960 and 1962 -- the only song to have ever had such a distinction, Checker noted.
